Dame Judith Anderson

"I'm BIG MAMA -- and I've learned a thing or two. It's the bed -- the bed. When a marriage goes on the rocks -- the rocks are there -- right there!"

One of the theatre's most distinguished artists, Miss Anderson of "Medea," "MacBeth" and innumerable Broadway successes comes to MGM to play Tennessee Williams' poignant southern matron, Big Mama, in "CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF," the Pulitzer Prize play which reaches the screen with stars: Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Newman, Burl Ives, Jack Carson, Miss Anderson and Madeleine Sherwood. It is directed by Richard Brooks and produced by Lawrence Weingarton. Photographed in color and CinemaScope, the Avon Production is an MGM release.
