Darryl Hickman

Big Town Scandal

Director: William C. Thomas

1948

Little Brother Dwayne Hickman may have achieved greater fame for a while thanks to a couple of hit TV series, but big brother Darryl had the far more distinguished film career, with film credits from the 1930s to the 1980s, and TV appearances into the 1990s. Examining his list of films not long ago we were rather astonished to discover that he had appeared in so many classics -- stuff like 1940's The Grapes of Wrath, 1944's Meet Me in St. Louis, 1945's Leave Her to Heaven, and even 1976's Network. We've never seen 1948's Big Town Scandal, but we can tell you that the cast included at least two of the the Little Rascals -- Carl "Alfalfa" Switzer and Tommy "Butch" Bond. Hillary Brooke, Philip Reed, and Stanley Clements were also featured. All of that adds up to "classic" in our estimation.
