| Once a huge star in films of the late 1920s and early 1930s, and a frequent leading man of Janet Gaynor, Charles Farrell has more or less been forgotten by modern movie fans. In fact, if he's remembered at all it's probably for his regular role in the 1952-1955 TV series My Little Margie, where he played Vernon Albright, the father of Gale Storm's Margie Albright. That alone qualifies him for legend status, but he also founded and managed the Palm Springs Racquet Club and served for seven years as mayor of that city. In the Margie series Charles Farrell was still an attractive middle-aged man, but the photo above, presumably from the early 1930s (?), reveals that the young Farrell was perhaps the Brad Pitt of his day. And wasn't Farrell doing nude scenes way back in the 1920s? |
