Jeffrey Hunter

Red Skies of Montana

Director: Joseph M. Newman
1952

Drop-dead gorgeous. What better way to describe Jeffrey Hunter? You can talk about his fine acting and his versatility, but you always have to come back to his looks, simply because he had looks like no other actor in history ever had looks. Maybe it was a blessing, maybe it was a curse, and maybe it's a little strange to be carrying on about the physical charms of an actor who is most famous for playing Jesus Christ on screen. But the pictures speak for themselves -- he was beautiful in the way that certain works of art are beautiful, and he retained those blessed (or cursed) looks right up until his untimely death at age 43 in 1969. Thanks to a filmography that contains more than a few interesting film roles, Mr. Hunter will certainly be remembered by some film buffs for attributes other than just his spectacular face. In the meantime, we just keep adding photos of Jeffrey Hunter to our collection because, well, they just look so good.

The Searchers

Director: John Ford
1956

LIFE ON LOCATION is not all work. At least Jeffrey Hunter and Vera Miles found time to play while they made "The Searchers" in Monument Valley, Ariz. and Utah. Although the filming site was 185 miles from the nearest railway and the company was thrown together for two months, no one seemed to suffer. They made their own fun, like fishing from a bridge they constructed over a stream. The two are co-stars with John Wayne in the C.V. Whitney production for Warner Bros. (Original caption 1955)
