John Bromfield
Curucu, Beast
of the Amazon
Director:
Curt Siodmak
1956
| In our ongoing quest to understand the great riddle of existence (which mostly involves poring over multitudinous stacks of old movie photos), we often find ourselves staring squarely into the square-jawed face of John Bromfield, a "hunk" actor of the 1950s about whom we know very little. In fact, after initiating some research into the subject (which wasn't easy), we more or less determined that we've seen only two actual Bromfield films, Revenge of the Creature and Curucu, the Beast of the Amazon, the latter being a legendary rip-off which didn't even have a real monster in it (although it did have Beverly Garland). So, always on the prowl for old talent, we've decided to investigate Bromfield's filmography as thoroughly as possible to see what turns up. Hopefully, we'll eventually get to see as much of this intriguing actor as Tab Hunter apparently got to see (check bottom of page). |

Here we offer John Bromfield in a portrait that was used to promote his appearance in Hot Cars, a film nobody we know has ever seen or heard of. Despite the film's obscurity, we're certain it belongs in the "must see" category for the following reasons: 1.
Movie goddess Joi Lansing is the female star. |

*BONUS We don't actually have the photo below in our collection, but we've recently come across it in various locations, both on the Internet and in print, and we just had to share it. It seems to cry out for some kind of a clever caption, doesn't it? |
