Tina Louise

The Warrior Empress

Director: Pietro Francisci
1960

Her directors included Michael Curtiz, Anthony Mann, Richard Brooks, Robert Altman, and Roberto Rossellini. Her leading men included Robert Taylor, Robert Ryan, Richard Widmark, Dean Martin and Bob Denver . . . Bob Denver??? What can you say about a woman who trained at the Actor's Studio only to be stranded on Gilligan's Island with Bob Denver? Say what you will, but this versatile actress was known for excellent performances before, during and after her three-year sojourn in that mythical locale. She was, after all, a Warrior Empress, a Stepford Wife, a member of the Wrecking Crew, and briefly a resident of TV's Dallas. By the mid-1970s her legendary status was officially cemented when her name turned up in a song by the B-52's!
